Bear of Rodborough wedding photographer.
Up on the common.
Natural, documentary wedding photography and film at The Bear of Rodborough, a 17th-century coaching inn on top of Rodborough Common, just above Stroud.
An old inn with
the whole valley below.
The Bear is a characterful 17th-century inn sitting high on Rodborough Common, surrounded by National Trust grassland and, in summer, a herd of cows that wander right up to the windows. It's got 44 bedrooms, so most of your guests can stay over.
Inside it's stone arches, log stores, cosy corners and fires. Outside you've got the terrace and the open common, with views right across the Stroud valleys. It's a proper Cotswold wedding without the fuss.

The common
Wide open grassland and huge skies two minutes from the door. Perfect for portraits, even on a grey November day.
The inside
Stone arches, log walls and warm lighting. It looks great in black and white and even better at night.
The feel
Relaxed, homely and full of character. Nobody's on ceremony, which makes my job easy.

Your day, not a photoshoot.
Most of your gallery will be real moments: the nerves, the laughs, the tears in the front row and the chaos on the dancefloor. I'll take you away for a short portrait session when the light is good, then hand you back to your guests.

Don't take my word for it.
“From our pre-wedding shoot to the wedding day itself, Chris was incredibly professional, friendly, and always went above and beyond.”Chloe M.
“He calmed nerves, directed family members, and made us (two pretty camera shy people) feel like a million bucks.”Kate & Dan
“Chris is the definition of talent! He was incredible on our wedding day.”Lauren & Tom
Bear of Rodborough wedding questions.
Have you photographed weddings at The Bear of Rodborough?
Yes, including Esther and Steve's wedding in November 2024, with a ceremony inside and portraits out on the common.
Do you charge travel to Stroud?
No. The Bear is close to home for me, and there are no travel fees anywhere in England and Wales anyway.
What if it rains or it's windy on the common?
The common is exposed, so I keep portraits short and pick my moment. There's plenty of character inside if the weather doesn't play ball.
Can you film our wedding too?
Yes. The Storyteller package covers photo and film all day, or you can add ceremony and speeches recordings.
